Abstract

Togo's membership in the vast English-speaking world market that is the Commonwealth requires an overhaul in a number of areas, including education, and more specifically in the teaching of English. In this study, we are particularly interested in the teaching of English in technical training. The English language skills required to take advantage of this market are out of step with those acquired by technical education learners at the end of their schooling. An overview of the factors that explain this mismatch shows that the insufficient adaptation of teaching methods and content to the learning context is at the top of the list.

REZUMAT

Prezenţa lui Togo pe vasta piaţă mondială (în Commonwealth), unde predomină limba engleză, impune o revizuire într-un şir de domenii, inclusiv educația și, mai precis, predarea limbii engleze. În acest studiu, suntem deosebit de interesați de predarea limbii engleze în pregătirea tehnică. Cunoștințele de limbă engleză, necesare pentru a profita pe deplin de oportunităţile oferite de această piață, nu sunt în concordanță cu cele dobândite de studenţii profilului tehnic la absolvirea înstutuţiilor de învăţământ. O privire de ansamblu asupra factorilor care duc la lipsa condordanţei menţionate arată că aceasta se datorează, în primul rând, adaptării insuficiente a metodelor de predare și a conținutului la contextul de învățare.
